Sounds like Demorrio Williams has probably won a starting job, he was the teams leading tackler last season and he had 3 sacks in preseason this year.
DEMORRIO THE DESTRUCTOR
When it comes to playing football, it really doesn’t matter where the game is played or what the rules are – count in Demorrio Williams.
At least that’s what Todd Haley says.
“I think if we said ‘Hey we are going to have pickup game outside this wall, right now after this game, he would be in, whether it was two-hand touch, whatever it was, he would be playing.
“He likes to play, he’s relentless. That’s a good sign for us.”
Williams was the Chiefs leading tackler last year for a defense that finished 30th overall in yards allowed and 31st against the run. Although he had 142 tackles, he did not have a sack, did not have an interception, did not force a fumble or recover a fumble. It was the quietest leading tackler performance in the league.
And that’s why he’s been in a dog fight with Derrick Johnson for the weak inside linebacker spot. Williams got an extra chance to shine as he became a defensive end in the No. 1 nickel defense, rolling in on obvious passing plays and lining up with his hand on the ground. He picked up his third sack in a week. That’s three more than he had in the previous two seasons.
Even after the Chiefs 17-13 victory over the Packers on Thursday night, Haley was not ready to name the starters at contested positions. But he did say he could use a few more Demorrio Williams.
“This Demorrio Williams, I’ll take more of him any day of the week because he doesn’t let up, he likes to play the game,” said Haley. “Without a couple of rushers out there, it was a great opportunity for us to be forced into looking for those (versatile) guys. Demorrio and (Jovan) Belcher are guys that have shown up in practice, whether it’s on show team periods or in our periods that they have skills to rush the passer.”
FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH
Jackie Battle finished the pre-season as the fifth leading rusher with his 180 yards. He was behind San Francisco’s Anthony Dixon with 300 yards, former Chiefs RB Michael Bennett ran for 236 yards with the Raiders, Peerman gained 201 yards with the Bengals and Pittsburgh’s Jonathan Dwyer ran for 183 yards.
As a team, the Chiefs ran for 595 yards, the third highest total in the league behind Pittsburgh (621) and Cincinnati (617).
Against the run, the Chiefs allowed an average of 94.3 rushing yards per game. That left them ranked 13th in the league.
FOR WHAT IT’S WORTH II
Not really sure what these numbers mean, but it’s interesting to see what has happened in the regular season after the Chiefs have gone 1-3 in the pre-season.
The ’10 season is the eighth time in the 51 pre-seasons played by the Texans-Chiefs that they finished with just one victory. In six of the previous seven years they won a single exhibition game, the Chiefs finished without a losing record. And in three of those seven seasons, they made the playoffs after going 1-3 in the pre-season.
I read that since Page signed the tender that the Chiefs have two weeks to get a trade done before Page counts against the 53 man roster but Page still stays at home and away from the team.
From what I read he either had the contract delivered by messenger or mailed it in, he signed the tender at home and sent it in to the Chiefs.

Chiefs re-signed S Jarrad Page to a one-year, $1.759 million contract.
His relationship with the Chiefs having gone south, Page is still seeking a trade. Signing his tender will facilitate a deal, but he remains undecided about reporting for work with Kansas City. Multiple reports have suggested the Lions are keeping an eye on Page, waiting for the asking price to drop.
The roster has to be down to 53 by this weekend + 1 (Jarrad Page) who won't count against the roster for a couple weeks.

Chiefs released G/T Ike Ndukwe and CB Mike Richardson.
The Ndukwe cut saves $1.684 million in salary, which was too much to play for a weak backup. Richardson was trying to make the club on special teams.

Chiefs waived TE Leroy Banks, WR Rich Gunnell, OG Lemuel Jeanpierre, OG Dan Santucci, and OLB John Russell.
Gunnell flashed in the preseason, so he may get a look for the practice squad as an undrafted rookie. The rest of these players were roster fodder.
I caught a good part of the game last night -- we did not play that bad - and in fact we won. This morning, I thought I would catch-up on the sports high-lights. EVERY NFL was covered - to include bottom-feeders worse than us - EXCEPT for the Chiefs and the Packers... Both are small market teams in mid-America...
I noticed this in the past - but this is even more glaring...
Magee was just ANOTHER in terrible draft picks of D-linemen... I wanted another player - the DT from San Jose State (I believe) that Chicago took right after we blew it by picking Magee.
Same for DaJuan Morgan: I also had hopes for him to come along, because he was touted as a potential first-round talent had he stayed in college. If Morgan is gone, this means that TWO of the THREE picks that we traded Jared Allen for are no longer with the Chiefs...
I have seen Mike Cox as being expendable pretty early on... This dates to last season and Castille's flexibility out of the backfield... Same goes for Quinton Lawrence - On a number of occasions I actually have forgotten that he still was with the Chiefs...
I still have some hope for Pierre Walters - He remains a developmental project, but we have been seeing progress from him...
